Apple is working on iPad Air 2024
Apple has not released any new tablets since 2022. This will finally change next month, when the iPad Air 2024 will be released. According to rumors, the tablet will be released in two sizes for the first time this year, just like the iPad Pro 2024. Are you curious about what new features are coming to the iPad Pro 2024? come? 1. Larger size
In 2020, Apple gave the iPad Air a new design with a 10.9-inch display. We saw the same design on the iPad Air 2022 and it is expected that the iPad Air 2024 will also have an unchanged design. Yet we see a big change, because the tablet will be released in two sizes for the first time this year. In addition to the 10.9-inch version, a 12.9-inch version will also be released.
That is good news, because previously only the iPad Pro was released with a larger screen. You pay a lot more for that, but from this year you can also opt for a larger iPad Air. This way you have an advanced iPad with a larger screen for less money than the iPad Pro. Furthermore, we probably won’t see any major changes in the design of the iPad Air 2024.
2. New 12.9-inch screen for iPad Air 2024
The iPad Air 2024 will also appear in a 12.9-inch variant, but it is still unclear exactly which screen the tablet will have. The usually reliable Apple expert Ross Young, an expert in the field of displays, recently predicted that the 12.9-inch version will have a mini-LED screen. We saw the same screen on the iPad Pro 2022. That would be a major update, because the current iPad Air still has an LCD screen.
Compared to LCD, mini-LED has several advantages. The new screen technology provides better contrast, higher brightness, deep black tones and is more energy efficient. According to Young, only the 12.9-inch iPad Air 2024 will have a mini-LED screen, Apple will probably use the screens of the iPad Pro 2022 for this. The smaller version will have to make do with the same LCD screen that we already saw on the iPad Air 2022.
3. Custom camera island
Leaked images of the iPad Air 2024 have revealed that the tablet’s camera island is being modified. The current iPad Air only has a lens on the back of the device. With the new generation, this will be a vertical camera island, similar to the layout of the iPhone X. This has to do with a new function, because the iPad Air 2024 will have a flash for the first time.
It seems like a basic feature of Apple devices, but the iPad Air 2022 doesn’t yet have a flash. This changes with the iPad Air 2024, allowing you to finally take photos and videos in low light. Apple places the flash right under the camera on the iPad Air 2024, within the camera island. The feature comes to both the 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch versions of the iPad Air 2024.
4. Relocated front camera
Not only the camera island of the iPad Air 2024 changes, the front camera is also moved. You will now find the front camera in the middle of the short side of the tablet. With the new generation of the tablet, this has been moved to the long side of the device. This makes video calls with the tablet a lot easier when it is placed horizontally on the table.
5. No new accessories
A new Magic Keyboard is expected with the iPad Pro 2024, which turns the tablet into a small laptop. According to Apple analyst Mark Gurman, this keyboard will remain exclusive to the iPad Pro 2024. We will probably not see any new accessories with the iPad Air 2024.
This does not mean that the iPad Air 2024 does not support any accessories at all. The tablet simply works with the existing Magic Keyboard for iPads. The Apple Pencil also supports the iPad Air 2024. So you can continue to connect accessories to the iPad Air, but you need the iPad Pro 2024 for the latest keyboard.
iPad Air release date 2024
Furthermore, the iPad Air 2024 makes the switch to the M2 chip, which we previously saw in the MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air. We probably don’t have to wait much longer for the iPad Air 2024, because Apple will announce the new tablets in early May. According to rumors, we can expect the new tablet around May 6. So just a little patience, because Apple will finally release new iPads soon.
