iPad mini with redesign and 27-inch iMac with Apple Silicon coming this fall

No home button, narrower screen edges and more: the new iPad mini that will be released this fall is a big step forward.

iPad mini 2021 date: ‘revealed this fall’

The new design that the iPad Pro introduced in 2018 is slowly but surely becoming available for other iPad models. After the iPad Air last year, 2021 seems to be the year of the iPad mini. That writes the reliable Apple source Mark Gurman in his newsletter ‘Power On‘.

iPad mini 2021 date

“The iPad mini gets its biggest upgrade in nine years,” said Gurman. His sources state that the tablet is ready to hit the shelves this fall. The design is comparable to that of the iPad Air, without a home button and with narrower screen edges. The screen would be between 8.5 and 9 inches.

Whether this new iPad mini 2021 will also receive Face ID is still a question. Until now, only the more expensive iPad Pro has facial recognition and the iPad Air has a Touch ID sensor in the lock button. Since Apple traditionally focuses on the midrange market with the iPad mini, it would make sense if the small tablet got a Touch ID sensor, just like the Air.

New 27-inch iMac also on the way

In addition to a new iPad mini, Apple would also be working hard on a brand new 27-inch iMac, according to Mark Gurman. After the 24-inch model that appeared earlier this year, it is time for a high-end model with an improved processor and larger display later this year.

This iMac would also get a completely new design that can be compared with the 24-inch version. Want to know more about the new iMac? Check out our extensive video review of Apple’s latest desktop.
