IPhone 12, Mac and iPad sales are skyrocketing despite (or thanks to?) Pandemic

Despite the ongoing pandemic, Apple saw its sales numbers rise sharply in the first three months of 2021. The iPhone 12 models in particular are doing extremely well.

Apple quarterly figures Q2 2021 impress

Apple’s shares are going through the roof and that’s no coincidence: the company has released its quarterly figures for the period January through March of 2021. The figures don’t lie: the company posted total sales of 89.6 billion dollars, an increase of 54 percent over last year. Of that amount, the company earned $ 48 billion in profit, an increase of 66 percent.

According to CEO Tim Cook, the iPhone 12 is the most popular model at the moment, but he also calls the sales figures of the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max ‘very strong’. Interestingly, Cook does not mention the iPhone 12 mini, while analysts have already claimed that the compact iPhone is not doing very well.

The new design, the better screen on the entry-level model and the introduction of 5G have apparently been a reason for many people to make the switch to a new iPhone.

The fact that many people still work and study from home is clearly visible in the number of Macs and iPads that were sold over the (digital) counter. These were up 70 and 78 percent respectively from the first three months of 2020. With more and more countries slowly returning to normal, it will be interesting how Apple’s computers and tablets fare in the next quarter.

With services like Apple Music, Apple Pay and Apple Arcade, Apple was also able to bring good news to its investors: the services sector set a new record with sales of 16.9 billion dollars.

Good prospects for the rest of 2021

With the strong first quarter, Apple looks set to have a good year. Last week the company unveiled a brand new iMac and new iPad Pro 2021, the AirTags will be in stores from tomorrow and then there are all the rumors about unannounced products.

With a MacBook Pro with a new design, four iPhone 13 models and several iPads and AirPods on the way, there is still plenty to do in the next three quarters.
