iPhone 13 (Pro) dummies leaked: four things that stand out

Once again, multiple photos of iPhone 13 dummies have been leaked. These show the design of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro well. These four things stand out.

iPhone 13 dummies leaked

In the run-up to the release of the new iPhones, we have often seen photos of dummies. The new ones come from the social network Weibo and later confirmed by DuanRui on Twitter. The dummies are said to have been made by someone who also copied the design of the iPhone 12 in great detail before release last year, which increases reliability.

1. New Camera Layout

The most striking external change can be seen on the back of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini. The camera lenses are not underneath each other, but are placed diagonally below each other. The camera module remains the same format as last year, only the layout is different. The camera lenses of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max look exactly the same, again with a LiDAR scanner at the bottom right. It is used for AR apps and portrait enhancement.

2. Improved AR Features on Regular iPhone 13

The fact that Apple chooses to give the camera lenses of the iPhone 13 and 13 mini a different place is not only to make the device look different. Placing the lenses diagonally would improve the quality of augmented reality apps. Now you can also look at the position of the device diagonally instead of just vertically, so that AR apps know the location earlier and can place digital objects in the real world.

3. Smaller Notch

If we look closely at the front of these dummies, it is noticeable that the cutout for the Face ID camera is slightly smaller than we are used to. Since the iPhone X and the introduction of Face ID, the size of the notch has remained the same. By making the notch smaller this year, there is more space in the menu bar at the top of the screen to display information. For example, this may cause the battery percentage to return.

4. Same design and screen size

We had to look closely at these dummies to point out any significant differences from the iPhone 12. It looks like this year will be a “gap year” for the iPhone, with a relatively minor upgrade. The design remains largely the same and the adjustments are made especially behind the scenes. It seems that the Pro models will have a 120Hz ProMotion screen and the iPhones are equipped with Apple’s new A-series chip.
