iPhone 13 vs iPhone 12: these 5 things the new smartphone does better

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 are both currently available for purchase from Apple. One slightly newer than the other, but the other cheaper than the one. Which of the two is exactly the best?

The answer to such a question has an incredible amount to do with a matter of taste. That makes it very difficult for me to answer them. Still, I want to help you on your way when buying a new iPhone. I do this by listing five improvements that the iPhone 13 brings.

iPhone 13 vs 12: 5 differences

The iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 are not very different from each other. That’s why I want to show you what that small difference is in, so that you can decide for yourself whether you think it’s worth it or not. If that is not the case, you can save yourself €100 when purchasing your new smartphone. So nice.

#1 An improved battery

Okay, I know not to burn my fingers and I’m going to do it anyway. The iPhone 12 was provided by Apple with a 2815mAh battery. The new iPhone 13 has a 3240mAh battery. It shows that the battery of the iPhone, and you certainly notice that in the weight of the device, is considerably larger. According to Apple, this results in two and a half hours more battery life. In practice I have learned that the improvement is around two hours, which I personally really like.

Are you someone who travels a lot and do you think a long battery life is important? Then the iPhone 13 is probably the device for you!

#2 iPhone 13: a better camera system

The biggest difference between the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 13 is the camera system. For the jokers among us: I’m not talking about the fact that the sensors are diagonally opposite each other this time instead of under each other. The actual cameras have also been addressed and you notice that.

For example, the iPhone 13 is equipped with a new 12 megapixel camera with the largest sensor that has ever been in a dual-camera system. As a result, the smartphone is able to absorb 47% more light, so that photos come out much better. Especially in situations where the lighting is not very good. In addition, the model is also equipped with the Sensor Shift Stabilization feature that was in the 12 Pro Max last year. A nice upgrade, then.

#3 The powerful A15 bionic chip

It is now an annual cost, but in 2021 we will again be dealing with “the fastest iPhone ever made”. This has to do with the iPhone 13 with the introduction of Apple’s A15 Bionic chip. It ensures that your new iPhone 13 is slightly faster than the iPhone 12 and in some cases is also slightly more economical. But in general, the difference is very small.

Both models feature 6-core CPUs with 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. Both have a 4-core GPU, a 16-core Neural Engine and 4GB of RAM. The difference is there, but quite small.

#4 iPhone 13: a slightly smaller notch

It’s a party, because Apple has finally decided what to do about the notch in 2021. The difference isn’t huge, but it’s there. The new notch of the iPhone 13 is 20% smaller than that of its predecessor. This results in more screen on paper. In practice you do not notice very much of the change

#5 A slightly higher brightness

The iPhone 12 narrowed the gap with the Pro models by using an OLED screen. That excellent OLED screen is also in the iPhone 13, but is equipped with one small improvement. Where the Super Retina XDR display of the iPhone 12 had a brightness of 625 nits, the screen of the iPhone 13 has a brightness of 800 nits.
