iPhone 14 becomes most expensive iPhone ever (and there’s more bad news)

With a 48-megapixel camera and a design without a notch, the iPhone 14 Pro is an interesting upgrade. Unfortunately, we seem to have to dig deeper into our pockets, because the iPhone 14 is probably the most expensive iPhone series to date.

iPhone 14: the most expensive ever

According to our sources at various mobile operators, production of the iPhone 14 is having a hard time getting started. This is partly due to the recent lockdowns in China, where Apple has its main iPhone factories. Several production lines came to a standstill for a longer period of time.

The slowdown in the supply chain and global chip shortages will allow Apple to produce fewer iPhones. According to the renowned American news site Bloomberg Apple is targeting 220 million copies by 2022, while the tech giant is expected to sell around 240 million. That scarcity leads to a higher price for the iPhone 14.

Expected prices

In addition, Apple is also suffering from its worst inflation in decades, which is making iPhone parts more expensive. Everything points to a price increase for the new iPhone models – and that has been a while ago. The iPhone X from 2017 cost 1,159 euros after launch. That is also the price of the iPhone 13 Pro, now the best iPhone of the moment.

It is still unclear what the exact iPhone 14 prices will be. Now you pay 909 euros to get the 6.1-inch iPhone 13 at home. The 6.1-inch iPhone 14 undoubtedly exceeds the magical limit of 1000 euros. With the iPhone 14 Pro we count on prices from 1259 euros.

In addition to the expected price increases, there is more bad news, because there is a good chance that the iPhone 14 will be released later than expected. Traditionally, Apple launches its brand new devices in September, but providers expect a release in October or later.

MacBook Air has already become more expensive

That a price increase is likely is also apparent from the price of the new MacBook Air that Apple announced at the beginning of this month. The new M2 MacBook Air costs 1519 euros, 400 (!) euros more than its predecessor. And while older models usually get cheaper after a successor, the M1 MacBook Air from 2020 became more expensive: it now costs 1219 instead of 1119 euros.

This may be an indication that not only the iPhone 14 is getting more expensive, but also the current iPhone 13 models. So maybe now is a good time to buy one. The best deals can be found below:
