The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are believed to have a larger battery than their predecessors. However, the battery life does not seem to improve per se.
Larger battery for iPhone 14 Pro
This Wednesday, Apple will present the new iPhone 14 series, and more and more details about the iPhones are coming out. Now Apple insider Mark Gurman reports in his weekly newsletter that the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) has a larger battery. As a result, the devices will appear ‘generally slightly larger’.
A bigger battery usually means better battery life, but that may not be the case for the iPhone 14 Pro. Gurman thinks that the larger battery in the Pro devices is a result of the addition of the always-on display.
always on
All rumors indicate that the iPhone 14 Pro has an always-on screen, where the screen always shows information. If your iPhone is in sleep mode, the screen will still show data such as the time, date, and widgets.
To prevent the feature from draining the battery very quickly, the new high-end iPhone gets an improved screen. With the iPhone 13 Pro, the screen refreshes between 10 Hz and 120 Hz. With the iPhone 14 Pro, the frame rates fluctuate between 1 Hz and 120 Hz. That very low speed of 1 Hz (an image per second) is used for always-on, where the screen remains on, but consumes relatively little energy.

However, always-on still demands a lot from the battery. Apple wants to prevent the battery life of the iPhone 14 Pro from being worse than with the iPhone 13 Pro, and according to Gurman would therefore place a larger battery in the iPhone. It is not yet known how much bigger the battery will be and what the exact battery capacity will be.
