If all goes well, we will see the iPhone 14 later this year. Based on various rumors, we already know quite a bit about the new device. You can expect these models of the iPhone 14 (and not one).
iPhone 14: models you can expect
There will probably be four models of the iPhone 14: an iPhone 14, an iPhone 14 Max, an iPhone 14 Pro and an iPhone 14 Pro Max. This time there will be no small iPhone 14 mini. The iPhone 14 comes in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes. The line-up will then look like this:
- iPhone 14 (6.1″)
- iPhone 14 Max (6.7 inches)
- iPhone 14 Pro (6.1″)
- iPhone 14 Pro Max (6.7 inches)
Notch or not
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will likely keep the notch (the black bar at the top of the screen). Something will change with the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. According to rumors, Apple wants to get rid of the notch with these iPhone 14 models. In its place there will probably be two recesses. First of all, there is a camera hole in which Apple hides the selfie camera. In addition, there will be a pill-shaped cutout for Face ID.
New chip: but not for all iPhone 14 models
In addition, the two Pro iPhone 14 models will receive a brand new chip. The ‘normal’ iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max get the same A15 chip that is also in the iPhone 13. It is important to know that Apple has two variants of this chip. The version in the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro max has an extra GPU core and 6GB of RAM.

It is therefore very possible that Apple will use the faster version of the A15 chip in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max models. It would even be possible that Apple will rename the chip, for example to ‘A15X’.
The company has previously done this with the A12Z chip in the iPad Pro 2020. This chip is actually an A12X with an extra GPU core.
The Apple Watch Series 7 also basically has the same chip as the Apple Watch Series 6, but they are called differently (Apple S7 and Apple S6) due to minor adjustments that have been made on the chip.
