The new iPhone 14 Pro already feels super fast, but the performance of its successor is possibly even more impressive. According to a new rumor, the iPhone 15 Pro has 8 GB of RAM – more memory than an iPhone has ever had.

The rumor is reported by the Taiwanese research agency TrendForce. With the current iPhone 14 series, all four models come with 6 GB of RAM. The two Pro models will probably get a speed boost to 8 GB of RAM. It is the first time that Apple’s flagship has more RAM since the iPhone 12 Pro with 6 GB of RAM.
The two cheaper iPhones (the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus) are stuck at 6 GB of RAM, according to TrendForce. However, the working memory is also better with these devices, because they get an upgrade to LPDDR5 RAM. This makes the performance a bit faster and more efficient. The iPhone 14 Pro (Max) also has this memory type.
What good is an iPhone with more RAM?
More RAM makes multitasking on iPhone better. Your device can then keep more apps and tabs open at the same time without slowing down or freezing performance. This can be useful if you often switch between different apps, or if you have a lot of tabs open in Safari.
More RAM can also lead to faster performance as it increases the iPhone’s processing speed. Although the speed does not only depend on the amount of RAM. The processor and software also play an important role. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra may have considerably more RAM (up to 12 GB), but the iPhone 14 Pro is still faster. This is shown by benchmarks.
Almost every year there are rumors about an iPhone with more RAM, so whether the rumor is correct remains to be seen.
