The iPhone 16 Pro will be released in a few months, but what exactly will be the differences with the iPhone 15 Pro? These are the expectations!
iPhone 16 Pro is coming
Apple is working on the iPhone 16 Pro, which will be officially announced in September. Major changes are expected – literally – with the new iPhone. The phone has a larger screen and the iPhone 16 Pro has a completely new button. We have listed the most important differences between the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro for you.
Screen
With the iPhone 16 Pro, Apple is adjusting the screen size of the phone for the first time in years. While the iPhone 15 Pro has a 6.1-inch screen, the iPhone 16 Pro has a 6.3-inch display. The new iPhone is therefore a bit bigger. That’s not the only change, because the phone will reportedly also have thinner screen edges.
The Dynamic Island disappears or becomes smaller on the iPhone 16 Pro. Instead, we see a small notch in the screen, where the front camera is hidden. It is still unclear whether Apple will completely say goodbye to the Dynamic Island with the iPhone 16 Pro, or whether we will see the feature in an adapted version. What is certain is that you will have more space near the screen with the iPhone 16 Pro.
Under the hood
The iPhone 16 Pro gets a new processor with the A18 Pro chip, and the iPhone 15 Pro now features the A17 Pro chip. The new chip is reportedly much more powerful, as Apple is working on a range of new AI features. To support those functions, the processor must become more powerful. According to rumors, the chip will even have a special part for the AI functions in iOS 18.
This new chip keeps certain features in iOS 18 exclusive to the iPhone 16 Pro. The iPhone 15 does have support for iOS 18, but does not have all AI functions. Other changes under the hood include an improved microphone, up to 2 TB of storage space (1 TB on the iPhone 15 Pro) and support for WiFi 7.
Camera
This year, Apple is bringing a feature from the iPhone 15 Pro Max to the iPhone 16 Pro, because you will soon also be able to zoom in up to 5x with the ‘normal’ Pro. The tetraprism lens of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is also coming to the iPhone 16 Pro. With the iPhone 15 Pro you can now zoom in up to 3x, but with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max this is up to 5x.
The ultra-wide-angle lens gets a lot better on the iPhone 16 Pro, because it will have a 48-megapixel camera. The iPhone 15 Pro has to make do with a 12-megapixel camera. Since the iPhone 14 Pro (Max), the standard wide-angle lens has been 48 megapixels, with the iPhone 16 Pro this also applies to the ultra-wide-angle lens. The camera of the new iPhone will therefore receive a major update this year.
Battery
The battery will reportedly be bigger and better on the iPhone 16 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro has a battery capacity of 3274 mAh, while the iPhone 16 Pro has a capacity of no less than 3355 mAh. In combination with the more energy-efficient A18 Pro chip, this probably has a major influence on the battery life of the device. So you don’t have to charge the iPhone 16 Pro as often.
In addition, Apple adjusts the battery itself to improve the heat regulation of the device. The iPhone 15 Pro suffered from overheating, so Apple opts for a metal battery for the iPhone 16 Pro. Charging is also faster with the iPhone 16 Pro: wired is 40 watts (which was 27 watts), wireless is up to 20 watts (which was 15 watts).
Release date of the iPhone 16 Pro
The new iPhone will therefore mainly see major changes under the hood, but the device itself will also be larger. This is the result of the 6.3-inch screen of the iPhone 16 Pro. The iPhone 16 Pro is therefore considerably larger than the iPhone 15 Pro. We still have to wait a while for the phone, because Apple won’t announce the phone until September. The release date of the iPhone 16 Pro is therefore probably not until mid-September.
However, a number of new features of the phone will soon be revealed, because Apple will present iOS 18 at WWDC 2024. That is the first Apple event of this year, which starts on June 10.
