On the iPhone 15 you can see the battery charge cycles, but on old iPhones this is not possible at all. Or is it? We show you how you can also check this on an old iPhone!

Apple has added a striking feature to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro. You can now view the charging cycles of your battery in the Settings. On the Mac you have been able to see the number of charge cycles of your battery for years (via System Information), but this is the first time that an iPhone has built the function. The charging cycles are important to determine when you need to replace the battery.

Apple is now making quite a strange choice, because checking the charging cycles is only available on the iPhone 15 (Plus) and the iPhone 15 Pro (Max). But no worries. We show you a way to check the charging cycles on your old iPhone as well.

This is how you check the charging cycles on your old iPhone

To do this, you will need an additional program for your Mac. This program is called coconut battery 3 and you can download it for free from the website. Install the software and you can get started right away.

After launching coconutBattery 3, connect the iPhone to your Mac with a cable. Sometimes you still have to give permission on both your Mac and your iPad. Then go to the ‘iOS Device’ tab and you will see all the data from your iPhone in the program. Then look at Cycle Count to see the number of charging cycles of your iPhone.

Apple has released four new iPhones again this year. There are two cheaper versions: the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 and 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus. In addition, there are two more advanced models: the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro and 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max.
