The first hardware of the iPhone 16 has been leaked! Photos show the iPhone 16’s camera, confirming the phone’s new design. This is what it looks like!
New design of the iPhone 16
It seems almost certain that the iPhone 16 will have a different design than the iPhone 15. The first schematic drawings were leaked last week, with the camera island in particular standing out. With the iPhone 16 (Plus), Apple opts for two cameras that are placed directly below each other. The iPhone 15 actually has a camera island with diagonally placed lenses.

The new camera island of the iPhone 16 (Plus) is therefore much thinner. We previously saw a similar design on the iPhone X, iPhone XS and the iPhone 11. Now the first hardware of the new iPhone has also been leaked, confirming previous rumors. The photo once again shows a vertical camera island. Curious about the new design? Record spatial videos
It is no surprise that Apple opts for a modified design for the cameras of the iPhone 16. The Vision Pro finally appeared this year and with the iPhone 15 Pro (Max) it is already possible to record spatial videos for the headset. You can only watch these videos with the Vision Pro, where it seems as if you are really in the video. Currently, the feature is only available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
This has to do with the positioning of the cameras, because these phones already have two lenses that are placed directly below each other. Apple has opted for a similar design for the iPhone 16, so that you can soon record spatial videos with all new iPhones. It is then no longer a function limited to the Pro models. Furthermore, no major changes are expected to the iPhone 16’s camera.
Improved camera on the iPhone 16 Pro (Max)
The iPhone 16 (Plus) again has a 48-megapixel main camera, the ultra-wide-angle lens has 12 megapixels, just like the iPhone 15 (Plus). With the iPhone 16 Pro (Max) we do see improvements in the camera, because the tetraprism lens is also coming to the iPhone 16 Pro. Now we only see that function on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The camera functions of the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max are thus brought into line again.

We still have to wait a while for the next iPhone, because it won’t be released until September. Fortunately, we already know what the new design of the cameras on the iPhone 16 is, Apple will probably present the phone in June. The Apple Watch X and iOS 18 will also be announced at that time.
