iPhone 16 Pro gets new 48-megapixel camera
With the iPhone 14 Pro (Max), Apple introduced a standard wide-angle lens with 48 megapixels for the first time. We saw the same camera on the entire iPhone 15 series this year, including the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus. According to new rumors, Apple is going one step further with the iPhone 16, because the ultra-wide-angle lens will also receive a significant improvement.

Now the ultra-wide-angle lens is still a 12-megapixel camera, just like the telephoto lens of the iPhone 15. On the iPhone 16, the ultra-wide-angle lens becomes a 48-megapixel camera, which provides much nicer photos and videos. This camera will only come to the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. And that’s not the only change Apple is making to the iPhone 16’s camera.
Zooming in gets better with the iPhone 16 Pro
On the iPhone 16 Pro, the ultra-wide-angle lens also becomes a 48-megapixel camera. In addition, the new tetraprysal lens, which we first saw on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, will also come to the iPhone 16 Pro next year. This means that you will soon be able to zoom in up to 5x with both Pro models. With the iPhone 15 Pro you are currently limited to 3x, but with the iPhone 15 Pro Max up to 5x is possible.
Another advantage of the new ultra-wide-angle lens is that the iPhone 16 Pro can take better photos in low light. The camera has a sensor that is more sensitive to light. This collects more light, which makes a big difference when you shoot a photo or video in a dark environment. When you take a photo in the evening or at night, you still see a relatively light image.

The new ultra-wide-angle lens will come to the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max next year. This makes the phones equal again in terms of cameras, because the tetraprism lens is also coming to the iPhone 16 Pro. This probably has to do with the housing of the device, as the iPhone 16 Pro is much larger. This reportedly leaves enough room for the tetraprysal lens.
