If weight plays a role, you may prefer to choose the iPhone 16. It is 17 grams lighter than the iPhone 15 Pro (170 vs 187 g). This is mainly because the iPhone 15 Pro is made of titanium and the iPhone 16 is made of aluminum.
Mostly the same screen
That is not entirely true, because the iPhone 15 Pro is equipped with ProMotion and therefore has the always-on function. That’s something that still hasn’t come to the regular iPhone models. The refresh rate of the iPhone 15 Pro screen is 120 Hz, while that of the iPhone 16 remains stuck at 60 Hz. But apart from that there are hardly any differences. Both screens are 6.1 inches and have a resolution of 1179 x 2556 pixels.
The iPhone 15 Pro has a better camera
That is not entirely true, but the iPhone 15 Pro has three lenses and therefore more options. The main camera of the iPhone 16 has 48 megapixels and an aperture of f/1.6. This is comparable to that of the iPhone 15 Pro, which has a slightly smaller aperture at f/1.8. The ultra-wide-angle lens of both devices is identical: 12 MP and f/2.2.
The iPhone 15 Pro also has a zoom lens with 12 MP and f/2.8. This makes a 3x optical zoom possible, which is not possible on the iPhone 16. The iPhone 16 has a newer processor, the A18 (2x 4.04 GHz + 4x 2.20 GHz). It is slightly faster than the A 17 Pro, processor of the iPhone 15 Pro (2x 3.78 GHz + 4x 2.11 GHz). The differences are not big, so in practice you probably won’t really notice it.
The amount of RAM is the same on both devices, namely 8 GB. In terms of storage space, you have a little more choice with the iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone 16 is available in 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. The iPhone 15 Pro is also available in these versions, but there is also a version with 1 TB. That can be decisive if you need a lot of storage space.
The iPhone 16 has a more powerful battery
Although the difference is not that big, the iPhone 16 has a battery that is slightly more powerful: 3561 mAh compared to 3274 mAh. According to Apple, both devices charge 50 percent within half an hour. Wireless charging via MagSafe is possible on the iPhone 16 with a maximum of 25 watts. That is a maximum of 15 watts for the iPhone 15 Pro.
Many different colors
The available colors may also play a role in your decision-making. The iPhone 16 is available in Black, White, Pink, Teal and Ultramarine. With the iPhone 15 Pro you can choose from Black titanium, White titanium, Blue titanium and Natural titanium.
The iPhone 15 Pro is slightly more expensive
The prices of these two iPhones do not differ very much, but the iPhone 15 Pro is still slightly more expensive. You currently pay €874 for the iPhone 16 and €999 for the iPhone 15 Pro. So the question is whether the additional cost is worth it for you.
