The iPhone 16th is officially presented! The cheaper phone has many functions that we already saw with the iPhone 16. For example, both devices run on an A18 chip, they have an action button and are equipped with 6.1-inch OLED screen. Yet there are also major differences between the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16th, making the latter much cheaper. These are the most important differences.
Overview
1. Housing
There are few differences between the housing of the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16th. Both devices are about the same size, are made of aluminum and have a glass back. The difference in weight is too negligible: the iPhone 16 weighs 170 grams, with the iPhone 16th that is 167 grams. In addition, both devices are water-resistant with an IP 68 certification.
Both the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16e have an action button, whereby you decide which function you link to the button. Do you regularly take photos? That is easier with the new camera control with the iPhone 16. This button is missing with the iPhone 16th. The cheaper iPhone is available in the colors black and white. 2. Screen
Both the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16e have and 6.1-inch OLED screen. The similarities stop there, because the display of the iPhone 16 has more advanced functions. For example, the standard brightness is higher with the regular iPhone (1000 Nits) than with the budget model (800 Nits). The same applies to the peak clearance, which is 1200 nits with the iPhone 16th and no less than 2000 nits at the iPhone 16.
To save energy, the iPhone 16 can lower the minimum clearance to 1 nit, with the iPhone 16th this function is missing. We find a big difference between the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16th at the top of the screen. The iPhone 16 has a Dynamic Island, while the iPhone 16th has to do with the old -fashioned notch (notch). The Dynamic Island remains exclusive for the regular iPhones. Both the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16th have no promotion and always-on screen.
3. Camera
The biggest differences between the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16th can be found at the camera. The iPhone 16 has two lenses: a 48 and a 12-megapixel camera. With the iPhone 16th, the ultra -wide angle lens is missing, so you cannot take macro photos. Instead, the iPhone 16th has only one 48-megapixel main camera. With both devices you zoom in up to 2x without loss of quality.
With the single camera of the iPhone 16th it is not possible to take spatial photos and videos, with the iPhone 16 this is possible. Other differences are mainly reflected in the photo editing. The iPhone 16 has the newest generation of photographic styles and portraits, while the iPhone 16th still has to do with the earlier version. You probably don’t notice a lot of difference in practice. The iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16th both have a night and portrait mode.
4. Processor
Under the hood, the differences between the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16th are not very large. The devices run on Apple’s new A18 chip, with which they have support for all new functions of Apple Intelligence. Yet there is a small difference between the processors. The A18 chip in the iPhone 16 has a 5-core GPU, with the iPhone 16th that is a 4-core GPU. This processes the regular iPhone graphic tasks a little faster.
In addition, the iPhone 16th Apple’s has completely new C1 modem. This is the new internet modem of the company, which is not in any other device. With the iPhone 16, Apple uses a Qualcomm chip, which consumes more energy. You don’t see this in the connectivity of the devices. Both the iPhone 16 and the Phone 16th have support for 5G internet.
5. Battery
Do you find a long battery life important with the next iPhone? Then it is best to choose the iPhone 16th, because that phone goes no less than 26 hours more after once charging. With the iPhone 16 that is four hours less, with that device you do a total of 22 hours. That difference is striking, because the cheaper iPhone has a better battery life. Both devices support fast charges and are charged to fifty percent again within thirty minutes. We also see USB-C at the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16th.
However, wireless charging goes much faster with the iPhone 16. The regular iPhone has support for the Charging Standard Qi2, which makes wireless charging up to 15 watts possible. With a magsafe charger, that is even up to 25 watts if you use the right adapter. With the iPhone 16th these features are missing, the phone has Charging Standard Qi. That means that wireless charging is much slower with only 7.5 watts. Magsafe is missing with the iPhone 16th.
6. More differences
We also see small differences between the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16th. The entry -level model has support for WiFi 6, while with the regular iPhone that is Al WiFi 7. The iPhone 16 also has support for Thread, unlike the iPhone 16th. It is striking that the U-chip is missing with the iPhone 16e, while the regular devices have had this processor since the iPhone 11 series.
With the Ultra Wideband technology it is possible to accurately search the iPhone. The same chip is in the Apple Watch and the airtag, which shows the precise location in the search my app. The iPhone SE always had to do without this chip and that is now also the case with the iPhone 16th. That is a disadvantage, because this keeps accurate searching exclusively for the standard iPhones.
7. Price
The iPhone 16th has to do without a number of advanced functions, but that can also be seen in the price. The device is cheaper than the iPhone 16 and is considered the cheapest iPhone of 2025. The starting price of the iPhone 16 is 969 euros at Apple, for the iPhone 16th you pay ‘only’ 719 euros. Both devices have 128 GB of storage space as standard.

iPhone 16 vs iPhone 16th: conclusion
The differences between the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16e are generally small. With the cheaper iPhone, a number of advanced functions are missing. For example, the phone has only one camera, where spatial photos and videos, the macromodus and the newest generation of photo styles are missing. Features such as the Dynamic Island, the camera control and a higher screen brightness also remain exclusively for the regular iPhones.

You pay a lower amount for the device, but you get the latest chip and support for Apple Intelligence. For most users, the 48-megapixel camera of the iPhone 16th is more than sufficient, especially now that the night and portrait mode are also available with the cheapest iPhone.
