iPhone app not available in the Netherlands? That’s how you get it

There are many apps available in the App Store for the Netherlands, but there are also a few that skip our country. Fortunately, you can still download it on your iPhone, but that is slightly different.

You can find almost any app you want in the App Store. WhatsApp, Gmail and Netflix are all there, of course. Still, the word “almost” is important here. Sometimes a popular app is first launched as a test in a few countries, or makers choose not to launch it worldwide at all.

Download foreign iPhone apps from the App Store

That is of course very disappointing if you really want that app, for example if you have read a good review about it in English. Nevertheless, there is a possibility to download some apps in the Netherlands, but you have to approach that in a special way.

There are of course several reasons why an app is not available in every country. As we told you before, the creator may not choose this. This can be related to licensing, for example, or that an app is in a test phase.

Fortunately, it is not the case in our country, but governments may ban certain apps. Consider, for example, countries such as Turkey or China. This may be because an app does not meet certain conditions, for example, or that there is simply censorship.

Download apps with new Apple ID on your iPhone

Fortunately, all of that can be bypassed on your iPhone. You need a different Apple ID for this and we will tell you exactly how that works in a few steps.

1. Log out of your own iPhone account and create a new one
2. When creating a new account, enter a different region where the app is available (for example, the United States)
3. Verify your account using the code you receive in your email
4. Open the App Store. Your payment preference is requested here. Do not enter anything here
5. Then enter a fake address in the United States when asked for an address. You must enter a correct state (for example Arizona)
6. Then complete the process

The place for your apps and games

Now that you’ve followed these steps, you can download all the apps on your iPhone that are available in the United States. Keep in mind that these are only free apps, since you haven’t added a payment mode, such as a credit card.

Change the location of the App Store

There is also another way if the previous option does not work. To do this, you need to change the location of the App Store in your account. This is a bit more cumbersome, since you first have to use up any outstanding balances. Moreover, you also have to take into account any subscriptions that you still have.

1. Open the App Store and click on your photo at the top right
2. Then click on your name and email address
3. Click country/region
4. Click on the country you want
5. Add a local address

However, there is also a disadvantage with this option. With the first version you still keep your Dutch account. However, you will lose this with the new option since it has been converted to the new country.

So it all seems a bit cumbersome, but these steps are quite simple. So if you really miss an app on your iPhone, this is a good solution.
