iPhone manufacturer Foxconn’s first electric cars

Foxconn is drawing more and more attention to car land. The company, best known as the manufacturer of Apple’s iPhone, has recently entered into several collaborations with car manufacturers and is now presenting its first electric cars. We welcome: the Model C and Model E.

The Taiwan-based Foxconn has built up a nice network in the automotive world. Foxconn and the Chinese Geely want to advise car manufacturers, among other things, the company has good ties with Fisker and the tech company also maintains a close relationship with Stellantis. Foxconn is proving today that it can also develop its own cars by showing two electric cars and even an electric city bus.

According to Foxconn, cars are now ‘the most expensive and largest electronic devices’ in the world, so it is not surprising that the electronics giant is increasingly shifting its attention in that direction. Together with the Taiwanese Yulon Motor, which produces Nissans under license but is also the parent company of car brand Luxgen, Foxconn has set up a joint venture called Foxtron. Foxtron is the club that now presents two interesting passenger cars, although they will not be sold under the Foxtron or Foxconn brand in the long run.

The first of the two passenger cars is the Model C, an electrically powered 4.64 meter long SUV with a 2.86 meter wheelbase. It is a seven-seater and should be able to reach 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. According to Foxtron, the electric range is 700 kilometers. Then there’s the Model E, an electric sedan designed by the Italian design house Pininfarina with even more interesting numbers on paper. According to Foxtron, the Model E has a 750 hp electric powertrain that allows the car to reach 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. The range should be about 750 kilometers. According to Reuters, Foxtron will build the Model E for a still unknown non-Taiwanese car manufacturer. The Model C is probably under the flag of the aforementioned Luxgen.

As mentioned, there is also an electric city bus, the Model T. This space giant should be able to drive up to 400 kilometers electrically and should be able to reach a top speed of 120 km/h. This EV would have a Foxtron badge on its snout.

Foxconn tells Reuters it expects the Foxtron division to be worth around €30 billion within the next five years.
