A lot of iPhone for little money: that is the iPhone SE. According to reliable rumors, Apple is working on a successor to the popular device. But when can we expect the iPhone SE 3?
When iPhone SE 3?
So far, Apple has released an iPhone SE twice. The first generation iPhone SE appeared in 2016, which had a 4-inch display. Its successor was long in coming: only four years later – in the spring of 2020 – Apple released the second iPhone SE.
It is unlikely that we will have to wait another four years for a new version of the iPhone SE. The budget device has become an important product for Apple and the company seems to have plans to renew the SE about every two years.

According to several reliable Apple insiders, including Ross Young and Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to introduce the next iPhone SE in 2022. This would happen in the first half of the year. We expect this to be in March or April. The first SE appeared on March 24, 2016, the second generation on April 15, 2020.
What are the innovations?
According to the Apple insiders, there are no spectacular changes coming. For example, the looks are the same: the iPhone SE seems to keep its 4.7-inch display, with the thick screen bezels and a home button.
The innovations are under the hood. The biggest change, according to Kuo, is the support for 5G. Of course, the iPhone SE also has a more powerful processor on board. Now the phone is equipped with an A13 Bionic chip, later that will probably be the two years newer A15 Bionic that is also in the iPhone 13 series.
Apple will not give the iPhone SE a more modern look until 2024, Young predicts. This device would have a screen of 5.7 to 6.1 inches. There have also been rumors that the iPhone SE will then resemble the iPhone XR from 2018. This means it will look more like modern devices, with a borderless design and notch above the screen.
The iPhone SE 2020 is still a great purchase, by the way. You can read more about that in this review update:
