Fans of Apple’s cheapest iPhone have been waiting for it for a while: the iPhone SE 3. According to current rumors, it will be released next year. And Apple’s entry-level smartphone may get a “new” design with unique features.
iPhone SE 3 gets a new design?
Until now, many sources assumed that the iPhone SE 3 would hardly change in terms of design. The current iPhone SE 2020 is basically a recycled case from an iPhone 8 with better hardware.
However, the Chinese MyDrivers now says that Apple could also have a surprise in store for us. It is reported that the upcoming third generation of the iPhone SE will resemble the iPhone XR from 2018.
iPhone SE 2022: new entry-level iPhone with iPhone XR design and Touch ID?
The design based on the iPhone XR would therefore not be completely new for Apple connoisseurs. But it could provide a bit of fresh air. According to the report, the iPhone SE 2022 will even get a unique new feature. Touch ID will reportedly be incorporated in the on/off button. So far we only know that from the iPad Air 2020 and iPad mini 2021.
The integration of Touch ID in combination with the XR design does raise questions about the notch at the top of the screen. That’s because the iPhone XR has the camera for Face ID. Will the iPhone SE 3 get such a notch, even though it doesn’t have Face ID on it? Or will Apple succeed in incorporating the camera into the screen edge? Or will there even be a punch-hole design? The report does not answer that, because integration of Face ID is also not excluded.
How reliable is the report?
We have some doubts about whether the report is realistic. This is mainly due to the fact that the Chinese site is not a reliable track record has. More reputable sources like the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and the Japanese blog Macotakara have already indicated that a new iPhone SE will simply keep the old design. The SE will of course get new hardware.
And the specifications of the iPhone SE 2022?
There is still speculation about what the new specifications will be for the 3rd generation iPhone SE. According to the latest rumors, Apple’s entry-level iPhone will receive a brand new A15 chip and 5G support. However, the step to an OLED screen will only happen with the next model. An LCD screen is also expected for the iPhone SE 3. Nothing is known about the camera yet.
