Apple is working on a new iPhone SE, which will be much better. According to rumors, the iPhone SE will even have the same screen as the iPhone 13. We will tell you why that is good news.
iPhone SE gets OLED screen
The next iPhone SE is reportedly getting a huge update. Apple plans to overhaul the design of the cheaper iPhone, probably saying goodbye to the notch and the home button. The phone is finally equipped with the Dynamic Island and Face ID. It now appears that the screen of the iPhone SE will also receive a major improvement.

According to rumors, the phone will have the same OLED screen as the iPhone 13. Apple used approximately the same screen for the iPhone 14 and has therefore opted for an OLED display again for the iPhone SE 4. That is a significant improvement, because the iPhone SE 2022 still has an LCD screen. An OLED screen has several advantages, including improved brightness, higher contrast, wider viewing angles and deeper black tones.
Apple saves costs with ‘new’ screen
The iPhone SE 4 will therefore have a ‘new’ screen, which we previously saw on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14. With this, Apple is trying to save costs, because the displays have been used in previous production processes. Since the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 have the same OLED screen, there is likely enough stock to use for the new iPhone SE 4 as well. In this way, production costs for the cheapest iPhone are kept as low as possible.
This means that the next iPhone SE will have a 6.1-inch display, making the home button disappear permanently. According to rumors, the Dynamic Island will also come to the iPhone SE 4, so the phone will be a toned-down version of the iPhone 14. However, the iPhone SE is limited to only one camera lens; that will be a 48-megapixel camera. The current entry-level model still has a 12 MP camera.
Release of iPhone SE 4 unclear
The iPhone SE 4 will probably have the same screen as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14. It remains to be seen exactly when the next cheap iPhone will appear, but in any case it is not expected that the phone will arrive this year. According to rumors, we can probably only expect the iPhone SE 4 next year, Apple will first launch the iPhone 16.

The usually reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously spoke of a release at the end of 2024, but now also predicts that the iPhone SE 4 will not be released until 2025.
