Hidden features in iOS 17 that are really useful
We have already shown you which iOS 17 features you should immediately enable and which you should immediately disable. This time we show you a number of hidden features that are very useful. Read on quick!
1. Lock white balance
The first of these iPhone tips is a great iOS 17 feature, the ability to lock your camera’s white balance when recording video. If you don’t have that feature enabled, your camera may change the white balance of your shots within the same shot. This then leads to a different color tone within the same clip.
While there may be times when you want your iPhone to reset the white balance (for example, if you switch from natural light to artificial light), chances are you’d rather have control over it yourself. Locking the white balance is the solution, which means your iPhone won’t change the white balance in the same clip. Setup goes like this:
- Open the Settings app;
- Scroll down a bit and tap ‘Camera’;
- Tap ‘Record Video’;
- Enable the ‘Lock white balance’ option.
2. Crop by zooming in
Number 2 of these iPhone tips is about editing photos. This is already very easy on your iPhone, but in iOS 17 cropping photos has become even easier. All you have to do is zoom in on a photo until you are satisfied with the result you see on the screen.
Then all you have to do is tap ‘Crop’ at the top right of the screen to make the actual crop. Handy to do quickly before sending a photo.
3. Information about the moon in the Weather app
We conclude these iPhone tips with information about the moon. Do you sleep poorly during the full moon, or are you just interested in everything that has to do with the moon? Then you will be happy that since iOS 17, much more information about the moon can be found in the Weather app.
Open the Weather app and scroll down until you find information about the moon. By default, you see the current lighting, the time the moon sets and when the next full moon will occur. Tap the information and a whole new screen will open.
You can see all the current information about the moon here at a glance. A nice detail: by swiping over the timeline, you see the animation of the moon change.
