1. This is how you test water damage on iPhone
All iPhones are equipped with water and moisture indicators. These parts turn completely red when they come into contact with water. You can find them at the SIM card opening. To do this, remove the SIM card from the device and then look in the SIM card slot on the side of the device. Does a red color appear? Then this means that your device has liquid damage. 2. Remove all accessories
First, give your iPhone a chance to dry by removing all accessories. This can prevent further water damage if your iPhone has ‘only’ had to endure a heavy rain shower or an overturned drinking glass. Remove the case and any screen protector and other accessories. Dry your smartphone well and put it down not in full sun or on the heating. This can cause condensation to form, which will only make the problem worse.
3. Don’t put your iPhone in a container of rice
If you dropped your iPhone in water, put it not in a container of rice. The rice will absorb the superficial moisture, but cannot pull water out of the appliance. This gives the moisture in your iPhone the chance to corrode and thus affect the motherboard. Instead, get the iPhone examined by professionals as soon as possible.
4. Let Apple take a look at it
Unfortunately, liquid damage isn’t covered by Apple’s one-year limited warranty or AppleCare Protection Plan. With AppleCare + you can have the damage repaired without having to spend too much money on it. It’s a different story without AppleCare +. You can then go to another company to have the iPhone repaired (always go to professionals).
