The Jabra Elite (Active) 75t are fine wireless earbuds that do not differ much from the AirPods Pro, but do cost less. We have tested the earplugs and you can read all about it in this review.
Jabra Elite (Active) 75t review
Are you looking for wireless bluetooth earbuds, but not willing to pay the top price for the AirPods Pro? Then Jabra may offer the solution with the Elite 75t. We have tested the Jabra Elite Active 75t and in this review you can read our findings.
The Jabra Elite Active 75t earbuds for this review were purchased by iPhoned itself.
price
First of all, the price makes the Jabra earbuds attractive. They are for sale for about 130 euros, but the price differs per webshop. The AirPods Pro from Apple are available for 219 euros, so that makes a significant difference. For an extra twenty euros you have the Elite Active version with IP57 certification.
IP57 means that the earplugs are waterproof and sweat resistant: ideal for during an intensive workout session or, for example, in the shower. The ‘regular’ Elite 75t is only water resistant with an IP55 certification. With an IPX4 certification, the AirPods Pro are only splash-proof.
Active Noise Canceling
The great asset of the AirPods Pro is the Active Noise Canceling, but this can also be found in the Jabra earbuds. Initially, Active Noise Canceling (ANC) was missing from the Jabra Elite 75t, but a recent firmware update allows you to ‘turn off’ the ambient noise with these earbuds. The Jabras are starting to look more and more like the AirPods Pro, but they are a hundred euros cheaper.
Thanks to the HearThrough function, you don’t have to take off your earphones when you walk into a store or participate in traffic. This is comparable to the Transparency mode of the AirPods Pro. This is because the ambient noise is picked up by the microphone of the Jabra earbuds.
If you switch on the ANC again, it will immediately become completely silent around you. This allows you to hear your music extra well and you will not be bothered by any jammers around you. This really offers a solution, especially in the train.
Service
The Active version of the Jabra earbuds has physical buttons, while the ‘regular’ Elites have touch controls. We have tested the physical buttons ourselves and they work great. The physical buttons give you the nice click feeling when you perform an action, but the touch controls work basically the same. The operation is incredibly intuitive, and you do not have to press the buttons hard.
The button on your left earbud has different functions than the right one. This way you turn on ANC or HearThrough with your left button. A soft female voice will let you know which function you are using. For example, with the right side you pause the music and pick up the phone.
A disadvantage is that you cannot use the earbuds separately: as soon as you remove one earbud from your ears, the music will pause. However, if you bring it back to your ear, the sound will automatically start again.
Excellent and adaptable sound
The most important part of the earplugs is of course what they are intended for: sound. Both music and podcasts sound nice and clear. The peaks and dips in the sound are a bit more exaggerated than those of the AirPods, and you have to love that. However, you can fully adjust the sound to your own taste with the Jabra Sound + app.
This Jabra app can simply be downloaded from the App Store, after which you can easily pair the earbuds with the app. Here you can adjust them completely so that they match your hearing. You can also set, for example, how heavy you want to hear the bass or the vocals. There are preset combinations, but you can also adjust it yourself.
Wearing comfort
Jabra earplugs are on the large side, which can be tricky if you have small ears. Three caps are included, in sizes S, M and L. I use S myself and it fits well in my ear. You turn the earplugs in your ear, as it were, by first pointing them downwards and then turning them upright in your ear. This makes them sit pretty deep and tight in your ear and you don’t have to worry about them falling out just like that.
Sports with the earplugs is absolutely no problem. Still, the convex part that lies in your ear is on the large side. When I wear the earplugs for a longer period of time, it starts to hurt. However, if you have medium-sized ears, you will not be bothered by this.
Battery life
A big plus of the Jabra Elite 75t is the long battery life. You can have the earplugs in your ears on a full charge for 7.5 hours without taking them off. That is longer than the AirPods Pro, which only last 4.5 hours on a full battery. You charge them in the box, just like with the AirPods. The case also lasts for another 20.5 hours.
You have to charge the case with a (fairly short) cable. There are also Elite 75t earphones with wireless rechargeable cases available, but you pay about 40 euros extra for this. However, if you find wireless charging important, it is best to choose the Elite 75t WLC (Wireless Charging).
Conclusion Jabra Elite 75t review
The Jabra Elite 75t earbuds are an excellent choice if you are looking for good, solid earbuds with good sound and Active Noise Canceling. Operation is intuitive and battery life is better than most earbuds on the market. The Active version is even waterproof, making it easy to take a shower. This is in contrast to the AirPods Pro, which are only splash-proof.
However, the wearing comfort is disappointing, especially if you have small ears. You also pay extra if you need a wireless rechargeable case. Still, the earbuds are an excellent alternative to the AirPods Pro, and the Jabra Elites are a very good purchase.
