‘Jaguar I-Pace production delay due to lack of batteries’

Jaguar is forced to reduce the production of the I-Pace due to a problem with the supply of batteries. That reports This is Money. Battery supplier LG Chem could not keep the delivery going.

It continues to rumble around the battery manufacturer LG Chem and its customers. Earlier we heard of a production delay at the Mercedes EQC. Mercedes, which also uses LG Chem batteries for the EQC, denied modified production, but Jaguar seems to underline the problems. A spokesperson for Jaguar would have informed This is Money that production is indeed being adjusted. The cause is a ‘temporary delivery problem’ from the battery supplier.

For the time being, the alleged delay at LG Chem has no clear cause. The company is not releasing anything about possible problems, but the coronavirus seems to exclude it in any case. Although it is an Asian company, battery production takes place in Poland. There are currently no known cases of declining production due to the virus. The production of the I-Pace itself, in Austria, is not yet at risk on that front. Jaguar is said to be working hard to minimize the impact of the production slowdown on I-Pace buyers.
