John Vanderaart has a new column on Pcactive.nl, this time it is about USB-C. And here you can still read his last column about when they miss me …
I believe it has been European regulations that have seriously revived USB-C. Read this: “… As of December 28, 2024, EU regulations will come into effect in the Commodities Act, which requires that (new) portable electronic devices must be equipped with a USB-C connection for wired charging …” And we will know that too! Because indeed, all my new electronic gadgets are provided with USB-C. On the one hand very handy. On the other hand, increasingly awkward. That deserves an explanation … I get more and more adapters and cables that have been performed USB-C. Gradually the other USB versions get into the background, because you can only put one adapter in one socket. All those other USB versions are on my locker slot, on my wireless headphones, on my bicycle pump, on my night light, etc., in contrast to the phone and the tablet, it is all devices that I don’t have to charge daily. And it happens more and more often that I miss if I want to charge them. I then grab a USB-C, while I need a USB micro. That will be searching, removing, puncturing, and so on. A process that continues to repeat itself, because next time I need USB-C, USB-Mini, something from Apple or again USB-Micro … This is how it has not become easier for me (!). Hence the purchase of a universal charger cable with which I can charge almost everything (!). Cost? A few euros. Handy? Not really, because it is a cable forest for me. Time for a new search, one where I limit myself to a minimalist charger cable that is only equipped with the 4 options that I really need. Maybe try the Hema? Or the Action?
Is this perhaps a solution? A charger cable that works with just about everything?
