Karma announced in early April that it can deploy its modular platform for many different purposes. The third prototype is now emerging.
Karma’s E-flex platform can be used for several types of cars: from autonomous vans to sports cars. The first type is now being further discussed as a solution for EREVs: electric vans with extended range. This is actually the enlarged version of the platform that is under Karma’s current production car, as the electrified Karma Revero GT now driving has an extended range and uses the E-Flex platform.
Karma now wants to show that the base can also be used for vehicles that are a size bigger. It now speaks of the EREV E-Flex Van platform. It depends a bit on the build-up of the tech from the bus, but the platform should be good for batteries that allow the electrified van to travel up to 400 miles (644 km).
Previously, the platform was highlighted as the basis for an autonomous van and as the foundation for an electric supercar.
