Kawasaki W175: super cool retro… for Indonesia only

If you are in the market for a light retro classic and don’t care for Royal Enfield or MUTT Motorcycles, Kawasaki might offer a solution with this W175. There is a small disadvantage to this, you will have to go to Indonesia for it.

Yes, we know that the retro craze has already passed its peak and yes, we also know that light motorcycles are not exactly selling like hot cakes here in the Netherlands. But that doesn’t make this W175 any less cool, which seems to be a close match to the W800 on all fronts.

The W175 is powered by an air-cooled 177cc single-cylinder single overhead camshaft, with a claimed top power of 13 PS at 7,500 rpm and maximum torque of 13.2 Nm at 6,000 rpm. It gets its air/fuel mixture through a Mikuni VM24 carburetor and, like many of these types of light motorcycles, it has a five-speed gearbox.

It’s powered by a small, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine and is packed with retro charm in a new engine package. And the good news for fans is that Kawasaki Indonesia has just announced the new versions and liveries for 2025.

The suspension consists of a 30 mm telescopic front fork and double rear shocks with adjustable spring preload. As for the wheels, Kawasaki has fitted 17″ spoke wheels at the front and rear, with a single 220 mm brake disc at the front and a drum brake at the rear.

The W175 is available in Indonesia in three variants: SE, SE Black Style and Cafe. Of these, the SE is the least expensive, at 35,100,000 Indonesian rupiah (about €2,000). This is followed in price by the SE Black Style for 36,000,000 IDR (approximately €2,050). The Cafe is the most expensive variant and costs IDR 36,400,000 (approximately € 2,075).

Those are prices…
