Kia immediately pulls the curtain off three important study models, of which this Concept EV3 perhaps has the greatest relevance. The Kia Concept EV3 is an almost production-ready preview of the Kia EV3, an electric crossover that can play a very important role, especially in Europe.
Earlier this month, Kia showed a shadowy picture of the newcomers it would show during its ‘EV Day’ held today in South Korea. We suspected that it concerned the study models with which Kia would look ahead to the EV3 and EV4. What seems? We were right. In this article we shine a light on the Concept EV3, perhaps the most important of the bunch.
Kia EV3
The Kia Concept EV3 is a fairly production-ready looking preview of what the Kia EV3 should become. The EV3 will be a compact crossover in the segment of cars such as the popular Peugeot e-2008. Kia attaches the EV3 to its EV label, which already includes cars such as the EV6 and EV9. This means that it is a model developed primarily as an EV. So there will be no versions with a combustion engine.
Kia EV3
Just like the EV9, the EV3 is topped with the latest version of Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy. We are the now famous Star Maplighting as introduced on the EV9 and the way in which things such as the wheels and wheel arch edges are designed are completely in line with what you know from that large SUV. The interior is relatively minimalist in design. Despite its fairly compact dimensions – which Kia does not release, nor do technical specifications – the EV3 should be quite practical. This means that even electric bicycles should fit if you fold down the back seat.
Kia is aiming for an international starting price of around €33,000 for the EV3.
