The most popular car in the Netherlands will be completely renewed in a few days. We are of course talking about the Kia Niro. We can now show you the first design sketches of the new Kia Niro.
The warm-up lap for the new Kia Niro seems to be a remarkably short one. While some brands already send out the first teaser plates months before the arrival of a new model, Kia decides to warm up just a few days before the unveiling of the new Niro. On November 25, the all-new Kia Niro will already be unveiled during the Seoul Mobility Show.
Like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, for example, Kia has a twofold EV policy. On the one hand, Kia comes with cars that are basically developed as an electric model, and on the other hand, it supplies electric versions of cars that are also available with combustion engines. The dedicated EVs will be placed on the E-GMP platform and will be attached to the EV label. The EV6 is an example of this. The brand new Kia Niro will in any case get a version with a plug-in hybrid powertrain to an electric e-Niro variant and will probably also be available as a regular Hybrid again.
Kia Habaniro Concept (2019)
The design of the new Niro completely breaks with that of the current model. Especially the lighting on both the front and rear is a lot bolder. The new Kia Niro is clearly inspired by the Habaniro Concept that the brand showed in New York in 2019. Striking things: the Niro gets vertical taillights placed high at the back and the license plate is no longer in the rear bumper as with the current model, but in the tailgate. In any case, count on a new electric e-Niro with at least a 64 kWh battery pack.
The Kia Niro was – mainly thanks to the electric e-Niro – the best-selling car in the Netherlands last year. The Niro seems to be the most popular car in the Netherlands again this year. Up to and including October 8,793 copies have been registered. The Picanto is in second place with 6,924 units sold. So a great year for Kia.
