Know this so far about the future AirPods Max 2

The AirPods Pro 2 are just out, so we’re slowly turning our gaze to the AirPods Max 2. What exactly can we expect from Apple’s premium headphones? Your friends at OMT are telling you.

The AirPods Pro 2 are great. Some people call it the earbuds version of the AirPods Max. Apple’s overhead headphones came out two years ago and so people are slowly looking for a new version. We list the rumors about the yet to be released headphones.

What can we expect from the new AirPods Max?

Let’s face it, the features of the AirPods Max are starting to date very slowly and so it’s time for an update. If we are to believe the usually well-informed Mark Gurman, a new model for 2024 is planned.

He says a big change is coming. The journalist reports that the AirPods Max has a USB-C connection. Apple has to, since Europe requires the connection for all small devices.

Yet Apple does not seem to be in too much of a hurry with it, because the same Gurman said in May 2021 that the company was not very active in it. There are not really many very concrete rumors, although there is some speculation here and there.

For that, Apple fans mainly go back to the development of the original AirPods Max. The idea then was that the parts of the headphones were easy to adjust. For example, it had to be possible to replace the earpieces and the headband. Something that was not the case with the final version. It is nevertheless a good idea for a successor.

There is also another piece of news from that time that came from Jon Posser. He reported that in addition to the AirPods Max, there would also be a cheaper sporty variant. However, it never made it to the market and this could also be an idea for the new AirPods Max 2.

Another reasonable rumor is that the new AirPods Max will get ear detection. That is certainly useful since the two sides of the headphones are very similar. So if you put it on the wrong way, you will still hear the sound in your left ear that is intended for the left. Unfortunately, there is not really much more about technical features to report.

Even more novelties

What we also expect with a new version are a number of new color options. As we see with the iPhone and iPad, Apple sometimes wants to adjust the colors in new versions.

For the rest, we will have to look at the new AirPods Pro for new features of AirPods Max 2. It is obvious that there will be a new chip on the inside. That can of course be the H2, but Apple can also choose to develop a completely new chip.

The AirPods Pro also have better noise canceling than the Max, so that improvement is there anyway. The same applies to Bluetooth 5.3, conversation boost, skin detection and a better Find My function, among other things.
