Ducati and Yamaha have been doing it for years, and that has given KTM food for thought. And so the Austrians have planned the KTM Academy of Speed for 2024, 3 two-day track events at the Salzburgring, the Red Bull Ring and the Slovakia Ring. Only for owners of a KTM motorcycle and a well-stocked car.

While Ducati itself provides the motorcycles for its track events, where each level has its own model type, at the KTM Academy of Speed - as with the Yamaha track events – you will have to bring your own KTM.
The KTM Academy of Speed will make its debut at the Salzburgring in June, followed by the Red Bull Ring in July and the Slovakia Ring in September. There are 72 places available per day, where you can register at three levels: Rookie, Amateur and Pro. Each group is limited to 24 riders per day.
KTM says there will be instructors and KTM ambassadors for each level, but is not naming any names other than MotoGP Team Manager Mike Leitner who will be present both on and off the track.
For the Rookie and Amateur groups, the KTM Academy of Speed is a one-day event, where you are of course free to register for both days, the Pro riders group, on the other hand, rides both days. The Pro group also receives extensive technical support and a pit box for your motorcycle and your gear.
In addition, there is a dinner and entertainment program for all participants in the evening. By the way, KTM says that the KTM Academy of Speed is the brainchild of ex-Grand Prix riders and the result of KTM’s own passion for the asphalt.
The dates for the 2024 KTM Academy of Speed are:
– Salzburgring June 20-21
– Red Bull Ring July 17-18
– Slovakia Ring September 4-5
However, the events are by no means cheap. The Rookies must pay €450.00 and for that money you will receive driving skills training off the track, followed by a 20-minute circuit session. At the Ambitious Amateurs the price tag is already € 890.00 for half a day of driving skills training and 3 circuit sessions.
Only in the Pro Riders group you will be on the track for 2 full days, but with a price tag of no less than € 3,490.00 you will have to dig deep into your pockets for that. To give you an idea: for the EYBIS double event Estoril + Portimao you only pay €799.00 for 2 + 2 = 4 track days until this weekend, where you can also ride the new BMW S 1000 RR.
