Lada Niva Travel has very old interior

The Chevrolet Niva was recently added to the Lada range in facelifted form as Lada Niva Travel. The exterior may have been thoroughly overhauled, but that does not apply to the interior of the car that started its life in 2002.

The Lada Niva Travel is completely fresh to see. At least, on the outside. The SUV, marketed as Chevrolet Niva in 2002, may have a modernized front and rear, but the interior is virtually unchanged. Of course, it makes a difference that the basis of the Niva Travel is not in 1977 as with namesake Niva Legend, but it does provide a striking contrast between interior and exterior.

Lada Niva Travel (2020)

Lada has released a first interior photo of the Niva Travel, confirming that the SUV revised from the outside has almost the same interior as the original presented in 2002. Its round cockpit that flows smoothly into the canopy of the instruments is now somewhat outdated. The optional screen, which is provisionally incorporated high in the dashboard, does not originate from 2002, but was introduced in the Chevrolet Niva a few years ago. Lada gives the Niva Travel a different steering wheel, a more modern radio and a revised instrumentation, but that is where the changes stop. The drivetrain is even older than the interior. Under the hood, the 80 hp eight-valve 1.7 serves as a power plant, which in fact has been in the primal Niva since 1977, which is now called Niva Legend.

The Niva Travel is available in a regular version and in a more adventurous version called Niva Travel Off-Road. The latter distinguishes itself with black plastic decoration, among other things. The Niva Travel has a starting price of € 8,160 in Russia. The Off-Road version, with roof rails, 16-inch light metal, central door locking with remote control and – yes – sun visors for both driver and passenger, changes from € 9,215. At the top is the Travel Luxe, which is available with and without an off-road package. This variant, which costs around € 9,720, has two airbags, an infotainment system, a reversing camera with washer, a heated windscreen, additional sound insulation and body-colored side mirrors and door handles. If you combine the Luxe version with the Off-Road line, you will lose € 9,885 converted in Russia.
