Heaviest ever
After a 12-year career, the Lamborghini Aventador retired at the end of 2022. Of course, Lamborghini is not leaving its supercar throne unoccupied. The king is dead. Long live the king! This is the Lamborghini Revuelto, a plug-in hybrid that brings an almost unearthly amount of horsepower to the road with 1,015 horsepower.
Highlights
- 1,015 hp system power
- New naturally aspirated V12
- Three electric motors
- Top speed of over 350 km/h
With the Revuelto, Lamborghini continues the bloodline of legendary models such as the Miura, Countach, Diablo, Murciélago and Aventador. The Lambo connoisseur who feared that the current car climate would mean the end for the V12, we can calm them down. The Lamborghini Revuelto also has a powerful 6.5 V12 behind the front seats. It’s a new one too!
The Aventador started its career with a 700 hp twelve-cylinder and later received a 750 hp SV variant, among other things. After the ‘Aventador facelift’ of 2016, that SV was further developed in 2018 into a 770 hp SVJ and in the goodbye edition Ultimae, the machine was even good for an extra 10 hp. All those variants have to recognize their superiority in the brand new and even 17 kilos lighter V12 that the gentlemen and ladies in Sant’Agata Bolognese have hung in the Lamborghini Revuelto. The newest king of the Lamb0 range contains a graceful lump of steel weighing 218 kilos, which, just like the Aventador, is 6.5 liters in size, but generates no less than 825 hp and 725 Nm. But it doesn’t stop there.
Three electric motors
The Lamborghini Revuelto is a plug-in hybrid, which means that the V12 receives support from electric power. The Revuelto has not one nor two, but no fewer than three electric motors. There are two electric motors on the front axle that drive the front wheels, while a third electric motor is located directly above the new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that deals with the rear wheels. Each electric motor on the front axle produces 150 hp and 350 Nm. The rear electric motor delivers 150 hp and up to 150 Nm. The system power of the Lamborghini Revuelto is therefore a hefty 1,015 hp. The electric motors are controlled by smart software that distributes the power over the front wheels in bends in such a way that the Revuelto drags itself through the bend as optimally as possible. In fully electric mode, only the front two electric motors are active in the base, although the rear one jumps in when the circumstances demand it.
The Lamborghini Revuelto is able to reach a speed of 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and accelerates from a standstill to a speed of 200 km/h in just 7 seconds. Its top speed: more than 350 km/h.
With a touch of Miura
The electric motors draw their energy from a 1.55 meter long, 30 centimeter high and 24 centimeter wide battery pack that is placed longitudinally in the middle of the car. The package has a modest capacity of 3.8 kW, which of course indicates that the Revuelto is not made for long stretches of electric driving. The package can be charged with a 7 kW charger, although the V12 is also able to recharge the package in just six minutes. The transmission is placed transversely behind the V12 to make room for the battery pack. Also in the Miura and Essenza SCV12, the transmission was transversely behind the longitudinally mounted twelve-cylinder. If you hold down the left paddle shifter behind the steering wheel, you can downshift several gears at once.
Carbon fiber fest
The Lamborghini Revuelto is built around an all-carbon fiber monocoque that is 10 percent lighter than its predecessor Aventador. The front part of the chassis, which was made of aluminum on the Aventador, is also made of lightweight material on the Revuelto and weighs 20 percent less. At the bottom of the line, the Revuelto must be up to 25 percent stiffer than the Aventador. The Revuelto has a 44:56 (front:rear) weight distribution, stiffer front (11 percent) and rear (50 percent) anti-roll bars, and 10 percent more direct steering than the ultimate incarnation of the Aventador, the Ultimae . According to the Italians, the Revuelto cuts through the air up to 61 percent more efficiently than the Aventador Ultimae and the spoiler work – full of active parts – provides the model with up to 66 percent more downforce. Carbon ceramic brakes with 41-centimeter discs at the front and 39-centimetre whoppers at the rear with ten and six pistons in succession should be able to calm down a steam-driven Revuelto properly.
13 driving positions
The Lamborghini Revuelto can be driven in no less than 13 modes, including the new Recharge, Hybrid and Performance that can be combined with the Città (City), Strada (Road), Sport and Corsa (Circuit) modes. You make your choice with two rotary knobs on the steering wheel. In Città mode, the Revuelt0 drives as electrically as possible. Handy for environmental zones. In Città mode, the chassis, traction control and automatic transmission are aimed at cruising as comfortably as possible. The power in this position is therefore limited to an extremely modest 180 hp. In Strada mode the V12 makes 886 hp available and in Sport mode the V12 and the electric motors make a total of 907 hp. Only in Corsa mode does the powertrain give everything it has: the full 1,015 hp.
Design
Fair is fair: the design of the Lamborghini Revuelto is no longer a big surprise for those who regularly visit our website. As early as January we were able to show you the violently folded appearance of the new big brother of the Huracán on patent drawings. Photos of the car itself show the design better. In the design interspersed with Y-shapes, we see design influences from predecessors Diablo and Murciélago. Forward and upward hinged doors are of course present again and, as befits a Lamborghini, the Revuelto is again interspersed with fierce angles and intense creases. High in the aft of the Revuelto we see two violent chutes and the V12 can be viewed very well through the aft deck.
Interior
Inside, the Lamborghini Revuelto is completely a child of this time. Behind the steering wheel is a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and in the center of the cockpit we find a vertically oriented infotainment screen that is actually remarkably modest in size with a diagonal of 8.4 inches. To compensate, there is a third display in the Revuelto. It sits right in front of the co-driver’s tube and measures 9.1 inches. The co-driver can ‘swipe’ information from his or her display to the other two screens. The workplace is finished with various types of leather and materials such as microfiber.
The Lamborghini Revuelto is not the first hybrid Lambo. After all, the Sián already had an electric motor next to the V12. The Urus will soon have a hybrid powertrain, the Huracán will be succeeded by a plug-in hybrid in 2024 and Lamborghini is already talking about the arrival of two electric models. For example, the second generation Urus that is scheduled for 2029 will be an EV and Lamborghini will introduce a completely new model with an electric powertrain in 2028. Incidentally, we also expect Lamborghini to come up with an open Revuelto Roadster in due course.
