Lamborghini has set a new SUV record on the famed hill climb Pikes Peak with the Urus. However, the record-breaking Urus was not the Urus currently in the Lamborghini showroom, but an upcoming variant of the super SUV.
With the new Urus wrapped in a striking camouflage pattern that reads ‘keep raising the bar’, Pirelli test driver Simone Faggioli set a time of 10 minutes 32 seconds on the 20 kilometer hill climb. That is 16 seconds faster than the 2018 Bentayga record. At Bentley, they will be happy that their group colleague, who is part of the same industry of the Volkswagen Group, has snatched the record… Because this version of the Urus is When he had yet to make his official debut, he did not compete in the official race but was timed by the timekeepers at Pikes Peak. In terms of modifications, the Urus only had the necessary safety items such as a roll cage, a racing seat with six-point belt and a fire extinguisher.
It is not yet known how much power the new Urus has. Since the 4.0 V8 already delivers 650 hp, a figure of around 700 hp is not unlikely. His name has not yet been officially confirmed, although the designations ‘Urus Performante’ or ‘Urus Evo’ are obvious. At least the Pikes Peak car has more or less the same front bumper as the prototype previously spotted on spyshots. We don’t have to wait long for the unveiling, because Lamborghini will pull the curtain on the fierce Urus this month.
