Lancia Ypsilon gets a new nose (again)

Lancia has not been available outside Italy for years, but in Italy the brand will not stop. The only model – the Lancia Ypsilon – gets a facelift again.

The nose of the Lancia Ypsilon gets a bit more chrome, especially around the grille. The air intake at the bottom of the bumper is also rearranged and the headlights are introduced to LED daytime running lights. The shown color blue ‘Elegant Blue’ – is also new.

In the interior, Lancia plays with some new colors and materials and there is a new version of the multimedia system. The 7-inch screen now also offers access to Apple Carplay and Android Auto, which is no superfluous luxury in 2021. A facility that Lancia calls EcoChic must also ensure that the air in the car is better filtered.

Future

In 2014 it became clear that Lancia would limit itself to the Italian market due to disappointing results in the rest of Europe. The remarkable downside of that coin has since been that Lancia is still doing good business with the only remaining model, the compact Ypsilon. Since its introduction, the current generation of the Ypsilon has consistently been in the sales top 3 of its segment, in 2019 it even made it to number 2 overall and of the (mild) Hybrid version launched in 2020, 14,000 have already been sold.

No wonder, then, that Stellantis – as the group is called today – tries to keep the Ypsilon up to date.

The current Ypsilon came on the market in 2011 and is now being given a significant facelift for the second time. If we are to believe the rumors, however, more and more important news for Lancia will follow in the future.
