Land Rover tuner gives Defender Tesla power

The Land Rover Defender is pre-eminently a car with a firm appetite for the past. However, that does not stop the men and women of ECD from giving the adventurer a big boost of modern electrical power.

The American company ECD has been involved in special conversions of Land Rovers and Range Rovers for many years. Normally, a car is thoroughly modernized by that company and equipped with a thick petrol engine, but now it is tackled slightly differently. In a shadowy photo we clearly see a firmly addressed Defender (no, not the latest), with modern light units and a whole battery of LED lighting. It is the first sign of life of a Defender that has been stripped of its internal combustion engine by ECD and now uses an electric powertrain.

ECD has shopped at Tesla for the drive. A 100 kWh battery pack from the American manufacturer supplies the electric motor, also from Tesla. It drives all four wheels, as is natural with a Defender. According to ECD, a range of about 350 kilometers is possible on a full battery. 0-100 km / h is over in five seconds. To get the platform of the Defender ready for this whole story, they worked together with the British Electric Classic Cars. This has led to the basis as shown in the second photo. Electric Classic Cars previously carried out conversions in which Defenders received electrical power. ECD will undoubtedly release more photos and information about this special project soon.
