Larger Land Rover Defender 130 is coming

Land Rover is currently working on the longer version of the Defender 110, the Defender 130. Opposite Automotive News sources within the brand confirm that the model will be on the market within the next eighteen months.

Official information and photos of the Defender 130 are not yet available, but it doesn’t take much imagination to figure out what it will look like. The 130 maintains the same 3.02-meter wheelbase as the 110, but grows 32.4 inches in length to 5.1 meters. The Defender 110 measures 4.76 meters without a spare wheel. As standard, the Defender 130 is said to have seven seats. The Defender 110 is also available in a seven-seater configuration, but presumably the rear passengers in the 130 will get more space and can also carry more luggage. It remains to be seen what exactly that layout will look like. We already knew that it is coming, but now we also know roughly when. The model should be on the market within a year and a half.

In any case, a Land Rover Defender 130 is historically justified, because the previous model was also available as 130. It only had a longer wheelbase than the 110, unlike its intended successor. Defender outside of Europe, CFO Adrian Mardell said Automotive News in a call with investors. Land Rover mainly targets North America, China and the Middle East. It is not yet known whether the Defender 130 will also be available in the Netherlands, Jaguar Netherlands did not want to comment on the arrival of the Defender 130 to Techzle. However, it seems likely that it is also coming our way. Prices and engine range will follow with market launch.

Incidentally, the Defender 130 is most likely not the last body style of the current Defender. Land Rover is reportedly working on a pick-up, but it currently seems to be a bit less concrete than the Defender 130.
