Apple is developing a range of new features for future iOS updates, according to recent information. Thanks to an internal leak, details about iOS 26.4, iOS 27 and even iOS 28 have been revealed. This information comes from a leaked test version of iOS 26, which is intended for engineers, but where the editors of Macworld has been given access to.
The most notable innovation in iOS 26.4 will be a completely updated version of Siri. This new version runs on Apple Intelligence and is much more personal than the current version. The Health app is also getting a refresh with a new design for categories and an easier way to capture data.
Internal test version reveals new features
The features were found in the code of a leaked internal test version of iOS 26 that is not actually intended for the public. Still knew Filipe Esposito from Macworld and its sources to gain access to this build, which now gives us a glimpse into what Apple’s developers are working on. Keep in mind that Apple’s plans can always change. So there is no guarantee that these features will actually be released or that they will look exactly as described.
New features in iOS 26.4
- Renewed Siri with Apple Intelligence: Siri gets a complete makeover and becomes much more personal thanks to Apple Intelligence.
- Redesigned Health app: The app gets a new category layout and a simplified way to track measurements. Earlier there was a rumor about an Apple Health+ subscription with an AI assistant for health and fitness. This may only be for iOS 27.
- AutoFill for credit cards: Do you have credit card information saved in the Passwords app? You will then be able to fill these in automatically in apps from other developers.
- Sports Tier for Apple TV: Apple is working on a new ‘Sports Tier’ for the Apple TV app, but no further details are known about this feature yet.
- Folders in Freeform: The Freeform app finally makes it possible to create folders for better organization.
- Improved security for Apple Account: There will be a new validation system that checks the integrity of your device before you can log in with your Apple ID and iCloud.
- More accurate AirPods location: AirPods are getting new features, including ‘Precise Outdoor Location’ in the Find My app that helps you find your earbuds outdoors more precisely.
Availability iOS 26.4
iOS 26.4 will probably be released in the spring of 2026, probably around March or April. Apple usually follows a set pattern where the .4 update of iOS is released about six to seven months after the main version. Because iOS 26 was released on September 15, 2025, a release in the spring of 2026 is likely.
Preview for iOS 27 and iOS 28
Improvements to the photo collections in the Photos app are planned for iOS 27. The AirPods pairing process is also getting an update, although it already works fairly smoothly. Even iOS 28 is already mentioned: this update would add new measurement data to the sleep tracking of the Apple Watch. In addition, Apple plans to extend the Health app to the Mac with the arrival of macOS 28.
