Lexus waved the compact CT off with us before, but is now also announcing the end in Japan. Before that, however, there will be a special goodbye edition first.
Production of the compact Lexus CT 200h will end in October 2022. This marks the end of Lexus’ first and only compact hatchback ever after about 11 years. A special moment, which Lexus is celebrating in Japan with a car it honorably refers to as the “Cherished Touring.” The Cherished Touring is recognizable by a special silver grille and fog lamp frame and the roof in ‘Sonic Titanium’. Two of the six available paint colors are exclusive to this model and of course there is a generous standard equipment, including seat and steering wheel heating.
If we include all foreign intro and goodbye editions, the website is too small, but we will make an exception for the Lexus CT. After all, we in the Netherlands have a special bond with this compact Lexus model, because ‘the Lexus Prius’ was very popular here for a long time. With a total of almost 11,000 sold, even more were sold than the numbers 2 (IS) and 3 (RX) combined, even though the CT was only one generation and the car appeared much later than the other models mentioned. The order is different worldwide, although the CT has also earned its spurs on a world level with about 380,000 copies. There will be no successor. According to Lexus, the compact UX crossover is a good alternative.
