Lexus LC lighter and sharper

Lexus made a model year update to the LC in the United States. However, don’t expect changes that make a world of difference.

Lexus added a spiritual successor to the SC 430 to its delivery range with the LC in 2016, although automotive countries would have to wait several years for the open version to arrive. Meanwhile, the calendar is already at 2020, but it is not time for a facelift. Lexus does carry out a model year update on the model.

Lexus gives the LC new aluminum carrying bars, hollow stabilizers and modified springs. Together with slightly modified light metal at the rear, this results in a weight reduction of about 22 kilos compared to the LC of the current model year. The above adjustments, according to Lexus, not only ensure more comfortable handling, but together with modified electronics that control the rear dampers also provide a more direct response to steering commands. Active Cornering Assist, a system that brakes the inner wheels slightly in sporty cornering, is available.

There are also minor changes specific to the LC 500. Lexus modifies the software of the transmission, so that a gear can now be held a little longer if the accelerator pedal is pressed firmly. Good for the rip noses among us. The transmission of the LC 500h is also being revised, it now shifts up and down faster. The LC’s infotainment system can now handle things like Andoid Auto, too, and that’s always welcome. Lexus is further expanding its LC catalog with new 20-inch light alloy and two new paint colors: Cadmium Orange and Nori Green Pearl. In addition, Lexus changes the red color leather for another red color (Rioja Red) and cuts the possibility of choosing a white leather interior from the order books.

There is as yet no specific information for the European version of the LC, but we expect that the above adjustments will also apply to ‘our LC’.
