The backup is the essential tool to preserve and protect all the modifications, the retouching and the markings carried out on your photos. Among the possibilities available to you, what are the solutions to remember? Our guide will enlighten you on these choices.
To save your photo edits, you can in particular outsource the backup of your images via a cloud storage service. Among the best known: Dropbox or Google Drive. The first step is to plan how often you want to perform your catalog backups. Equally important, organizing, managing and sharing your images makes it easier to view your files and access your folders. Follow our advice on how to order, import and exchange your photos.
1. Organize your catalog backups
A catalog is the recording of information for each of your photos. All corrections made to your photos are stored in the catalog. To ensure a regular backup of your catalogs, go to Editing then in Catalog Settings.

In the settings window choose how often you want to back up your catalog: once a month, once a week, once a day, whenever Lightroom closes, when Lightroom closes the next time.
Then specify the location of the backup.

2. Store and backup your photos with Dropbox
You can save and sync any edits to your photos to Dropbox. Once you’ve downloaded and installed Dropbox, you’ll need to create your Dropbox account. Make sure you have the necessary storage space.
Create a new folder on Dropbox. Then move your photos from Lightroom to the created folder. As soon as you edit or add images, they are automatically saved to Dropbox.

3. Import and store your photos with Google Drive
To import and store your data online with Drive, you must first create a Google account. Once done, open Drive and right click on My Drive at the top left of your screen. Then click on Import files Where import a folder. When you transfer your files from Lightroom to Drive they are automatically synced with your other devices.

4. Organize and share your images with Dropbox
To create a photo album, once logged in to Dropbox, go to your photos. Select all your photos that will constitute your album by clicking in the top right corner of your photos.
Then click on the three dots then on Add to album. Click on Create an album then define the name of the latter.

To share your photos, there are two possibilities: you can create a link and then share this link with the people concerned. To create a link, right click on your file then click on Share the Dropbox link

To create a link you can also select your photo and then click on To share at the top right of your screen then click on Get the link.

Alternatively, you can share your photos with those affected to jointly make the necessary changes. Once your photo has been selected click on To share at the top right of your screen. Enter the email addresses of the people you want to share your photo with. Write a message if necessary. Press on Send.

5. Manage your images with Google Drive
To organize your photos on Google Drive, you can create folders. To do this, when you are connected to Google Drive, right click on My Drive then on New folder on the left of your screen. Name your folder then click on To create.


To share your photos, you can either send a link or share your file. To create a link, once connected to Google Drive, right-click on the file and then click on Get shareable link. Copy the link then paste it into the email you want to send to the people you plan to share your photos with.

To share a file containing your photos, in Google Drive, right-click on the file to share. Then click on To share. In Users, enter the email addresses of the people you want to share your file with. To finalize click on Send. The people you have specified will receive your email.


6. Manage images with Adobe Stock
To add photos to Adobe Stock from Lightroom go to Publishing services to the left of the Library module then drag your photos to Adobe Stock. Then click on Publish.


If you want to rename your collection, in the Publishing Services panel, double click on the collection then change its name or right click and press Rename. By default, the name is sent to Adobe Stock. If you want to remove a photo from your collection, right click with your mouse and choose To delete. If you want to display your photos from a collection, in the panel Publishing services choose the photos concerned.
