The start of a new week is not complete without the introduction of a new electric model from China. This time the Lingbao Box is on the digital shelves.
Lingbao is a new Chinese brand from China’s Jiangsu Jemmel New Energy Vehicle Industry. The brand new manufacturer immediately pushes its firstborn forward: the Box.
The Box is a 3.46-meter five-door hatchback with a 2.46-meter wheelbase. This makes the car a space twenty centimeters shorter than, say, a Hyundai i10, although the wheelbase of the Box is about three centimeters longer than that of that Korean hatchback. This is partly due to the drivetrain of the Box. The cheerful-looking Chinese hatchback is fully electric. Under the hood is a 61 hp and 150 Nm strong electric motor that derives its zest for life from a 17.7 kWh battery pack. According to Lingbao, the Box should be able to achieve a range of around 150 NEDC kilometers.
Daihatsu Cast
Does the appearance of the Box seem somewhat familiar to you? Us too. The car has strong external similarities with the Daihatsu Cast presented in 2015 (photos 5 and 6). Lingbao has no ties with Daihatsu, so the copying process will not have been carried out entirely with the permission of the Japanese brand.
