We had to wait a long time, but now it seems to be finally coming. In the source code of Spotify, references have surfaced to a music reproduction with higher sound quality. You need to know this.
Spotify sound quality will soon be better (Lossless)
Spotify is the most popular music streaming service worldwide, but with regard to a part, the Swedish music giant is doing a little less than the competitors. If you ask the audiophile experts, the sound quality of songs on Spotify is the least compared to the other services. But the company will finally do something about that.
If you iPhoned Following for a while, then you know that there have been rumors around a so -called ‘lossless version’ from Spotify for years. In this case, Lossless means that there is no loss of quality at all between the original studio recording and the song that streams. Now Spotify always uses a Lossy codec (OGG forbis – for the nerds among us), and even in the highest quality setting you lose some sound information.
Reference in the code challenged
A text line has surfaced in the source code of the Desktop app and the web version of Spotify. He says: “Meet the best sound quality on Spotify: for music up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz” (original: “Introducing the best sound quality on spotify: for music in up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz”). Somewhere else in the code it is also possible that it is possible to stream and download Lossless Audio on the iPhone.
According to earlier rumors, Lossless Audio is part of a more expensive subscription, called ‘Music Pro’. That is an extra that comes on top of your current subscription price. There is an additional cost up to 6 dollars a month, so around 5 euros.

This is how you listen to Spotify Lossless Audio
By the way, if you just listen to Spotify with your AirPods via Bluetooth, then the quality may get a little better, but you really notice it when a compatible headphone with cable is used. On the latest AirPods Max, for example, it is possible to listen to Lossless music via Apple Music.
Release date still unknown
When exactly Spotify’s Lossless function becomes available, it has not yet been officially confirmed. However, the instructions found in the source code suggest that it will not be long. Spotify usually test new functions first or with a select group of users, so it may expect more clarity soon.
In the meantime, it is definitely worth it for audio lovers to prepare your headphones or speakers. How about the AirPods Max or the Sony WH-1000XM6. As soon as Spotify rolls out Lossless, you can be the first to enjoy music in studio quality. Of course we keep you with iPhoned Aware as soon as there is more news.
