Have you lost your suitcase on holiday? In that case, several airlines have recently introduced a handy solution to find your AirTag. That’s how it is!
Lost AirTag on holiday
The AirTag is the perfect tool to never lose items such as your suitcase, wallet, backpack or keys again. You will see the location of the tracker in the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac(Book), so you know exactly where the AirTag is. Have you lost your AirTag? Apple has come up with a useful function for this with iOS 18.2, because you can temporarily share the location of the AirTag with airlines, for example.
The feature is especially useful if you have lost the AirTag at a certain company. By sharing a temporary link with the location of the tracker, employees can help search for the AirTag. The link gives them temporary access to the location of the device, which makes it much faster to find it. A number of airlines have now announced that they support the new AirTag feature.
These are the airlines
Have you lost your suitcase on holiday? Or can’t you find your luggage at the airport? In that case, more and more airlines are offering support for the new Find My function of the AirTag. For example, KLM is already working with Apple to track down lost suitcases using AirTags. These are all the airlines that currently support Apple’s feature:
- Aer Lingus
- Air Canada
- Air New Zealand
- Austrian Airlines
- British Airways
- Brussels Airlines
- Delta Air Lines
- Eurowings
- Iberia
- KLM
- Lufthansa
- Qantas
- Singapore Airlines
- Swiss International Air Lines
- Turkish Airlines
- United
- Virgin Atlantic
- Vueling
It is expected that this list will become much longer in the coming period, because more and more airlines are participating in the new AirTag feature. For example, Air France is not yet on the list, while KLM is part of Air France-KLM. This is still a relatively new feature, which will probably be available at more airlines early next year.
This is how the AirTag function works
You can find the new AirTag function in the Find My app. There, go to ‘Objects’, select the lost AirTag and tap ‘Share object location’. This gives you the option to temporarily share the location of the AirTag, for example with airlines. Companies such as KLM and Aer Lingus now allow you to share this link, which is useful if your luggage is lost during your flight.
This is a temporary link, after a week the location of the AirTag is no longer visible via the shared link. In this way, Apple protects your privacy and the company wants to prevent the temporary link from being abused. Are you going on holiday soon and do you always want to know where your luggage is? Then it is advisable to hide an AirTag in your suitcase or bag. View the lowest prices of the AirTag here, so you never pay too much:
