The Belgian top designer Luc Donckerwolke returns to Hyundai after a short absence. He returns to a different position than where he was before.
Last spring it was announced that Donckerwolke left Hyundai after a relatively short period. At the time, he was chief designer of the Hyundai Motor Group, so in addition to Hyundai, he was also responsible for Kia. Now the Belgian is returning to a new position. He will be the Group’s Chief Creative Officer. He will be responsible for the communication and development of the various design departments. SangYup Lee remains the creative leader of the Hyundai and Genesis design divisions. Kia remains under the responsibility of Karim Habib.
Donckerwolke left last spring ‘due to personal circumstances’. Hyundai now reports that he has been away for a while for health reasons, but is now back with fresh courage. Donckerwolke has grown into a globally respected designer over the decades. He is responsible for the Lamborghini Murciélago, the currently very successful Hyundai Kona and more striking designs.
