Lynk & Co 09 is secretly a Volvo XC90

Geely’s Lynk & Co has released the first images of a brand new SUV. We are introduced digitally to the 09, a car that, despite its typical Lynk & Co design, is more famous than you might think.

Geely is a Chinese manufacturer with numerous brands in its pocket, including several brands that we also know in Europe. For example, Geely not only owns Volvo, but also Lynk & Co, Polestar and Lotus. Because Geely has not fallen on its head, it allows various brands to benefit from the same technology. For example, all models of Lynk & Co – which will soon also be coming to the Netherlands – are on the CMA platform that we will also find under the Volvo XC40, Polestar 2 and soon under the Volvo C40 Recharge. Lynk & Co released the first information about a new top model on another Volvo known platform during the Shanghai Motor Show.

Lynk & Co is releasing the first plates of a new large SUV named 09. The Lynk & Co 09 is on Volvo’s SPA platform, a base we know from Volvo’s 60 and 90 series. The Lynk & Co 09 can be recognized as Lynk & Co thanks to its idiosyncratic front with LED daytime running lights placed high in the nose and large gaping mouth, but if you peek through your eyelashes, you will see that the 09 is in fact a thoroughly modified version. is from the Volvo XC90. The shoulder line and windows and roof line correspond to those of Volvo’s largest SUV.

The Lynk & Co 09 will be launched in China later this year and will be available there with a mild hybrid powertrain, a plug-in hybrid powertrain and a regular hybrid. The mildest version is 252 hp, the most powerful – the plug-in hybrid with a 177 hp electric motor on the rear axle – kicks it to 431 hp. Whether the Lynk & Co 09 will also come to Europe in the long term? We dare not say that yet.
