When can I download macOS 26?
The most important question in this macOS 26 FAQ is of course when will macOS become available? Apple has announced that the free software update can be installed from this fall. Developers and registered users can download a new test version via developer.apple.com. Public testers can get started via beta.apple.com
Which devices do MacOS 26 support?

Will Apple Intopellence be available in Dutch?
Yes! Apple has officially confirmed that Apple Intelligence will become available in Dutch. Danish, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (traditional) and Vietnamese will also be added. Apple has indicated that it supports these languages ​​at the end of this year, when exactly is still unclear. For the time being you cannot yet test Apple Intelligence in Dutch, not even with the help of the beta.
Is the Liquid Glass design mandatory?
With effect from iOS 26, iPados 26, Macos Tahoe, Watchos 26 and TVOS 26, Apple heralds a new era. Since iOS 7, the design, design and looks of the software has remained more or less the same, but after twelve years that will finally change.
The new interface is loosely based on Visionos and is characterized by glassy, ​​transparent elements, rounded buttons and floating menus. This emphasizes the simplicity, which is good for the user experience. The way of operating for some apps has also been taken into account. For example, various apps have become more minimalist and options are hidden behind extra menus.
You don’t have to go as extreme as on the image above, this clear view is optional. Yet you will have to get used to the new interface when you decide to update. You can, however, reduce transparency with the help of accessibility options.
How productive is the new spotlight?
With Spotlight you will find what you are looking for and you can perform actions in new ways than ever. During the search all results, such as files, folders, events, apps and messages, are now together. Everything is also cleverly sorted on the basis of the relevance for you. With the new filter options you can search more specifically, for example for PDFs or mail messages. Spotlight can also find documents that you have saved from your third -party cloud services from your Mac. With the help of the new leaf views you can quickly view your apps, files and clipboard history.
Furthermore, you can perform hundreds of actions directly from Spotlight-for example, send an e-mail, create a note or play a podcast-without changing app. In addition, you can also immediately perform actions in Apple apps and apps from external developers.
The assignments and actions that you can also easily perform from Spotlight via the menu bar in the app in which you are busy, so you can work even faster. Spotlight learns from the things you do and proposes personal actions based on that – for example, send a message to a colleague with whom you often have contact. Finally, you can now use short drawing combinations in Spotlight to quickly find the desired actions.
How does the telephone app work for Mac?
Thanks to the continuity feature, the telephone app is now available on Mac and you can forward phone calls if your iPhone is nearby. The telephone app on Mac contains all the well-known features of the telephone app on iPhone, such as recent conversations, favorites and voicemail, but also new features, such as calling and Hold Assist (unfortunately not yet in Dutch).
The Feature Calls Screenen automatically answers phone calls from unknown callers. The caller is asked for information so that you can determine whether you want to answer the call. And if you are on hold, Hold Assist holds your place in the queue before you are available until an employee is available, so that you can continue working on your Mac in the meantime.
Do all new functions work on my Mac?
Unfortunately, not all functions are available on all Mac models that support macOS 26. For example, some functions are only available on a Mac with an Apple Silicon Processor. In a separate article we list all the functions that are not available on all Macs that support MacOS 26.
