Two weeks ago, Apple released a relatively large interim update for the Mac with macOS 12.3. Now it’s time to look ahead to the next software update as the first beta of macOS 12.4 has arrived.
macOS Monterey 12.4
With macOS 12.3, your Mac got several updates, including Universal Controls and new emojis. Not much later, Apple also released macOS 12.3.1, with some bluetooth bug fixes and security updates.
Now developers can download the first beta of macOS 12.4. The purpose of these betas is to detect bugs in the operating system, so that a major software update runs as smoothly as possible.
What’s new in macOS 12.4?
So far, no major innovations have been discovered in the beta of macOS Monterey 12.4. The software update is likely to focus on system stability and security updates. If any striking changes are discovered, you will read about it in this article.
In the release notes, Apple warns that Universal Control in macOS 12.4 is not compatible with macOS 12.3 or iPadOS 15.4. It is then necessary to also update your other iPad and Mac to the latest beta; otherwise the new feature will not work.
Universal Controls are a way to control your Mac and iPad with a single trackpad (or mouse) and keyboard. You can read more about this in an article about setting up universal controls.
