The public beta of macOS 12 Monterey is now available for download! This way you download the test version on your Mac and you can get started with all the innovations.
Download macOS 12 Monterey public beta
Want to be the first to get started with Universal Control, the new AirPlay features, and the Safari redesign of macOS (12) Monterey? Now you can! The beta for the general public is available to download starting today. Anyone can install this software, if your Mac is supported. Updating goes as follows:
- Go to the Apple beta website on your Mac;
- Press ‘Sign up’, sign in with your Apple ID and choose ‘Sign in’;
- Select macOS if you don’t automatically get there;
- Make a backup if you haven’t already done so;
- Scroll down and press ‘Download the macOS Public Beta Access Utility’ and install the program as usual;
- Go to “Software Update” in System Preferences and follow the onscreen steps to download the beta.
Pay attention. You are now installing a test version on your MacBook. That is nice on the one hand, because you can be the first to get started with all the innovations, but on the other hand it is also risky. After all, there can be bugs, teething problems and other errors in the software: it is and remains a test version.
Therefore, make a good backup of your Mac beforehand. That way you won’t lose any personal files if the update doesn’t turn out well. It is also wise not to install the update on a Mac that you use every day, for example for school or work. Instead, use a computer that you don’t depend on.
