By default, buttons in Gmail have an icon instead of text. Adjust this to immediately know what a button does.
Icons in Gmail
Most buttons in Gmail contain an icon. Users need to know what a button is for from the image. That is sometimes difficult. Fortunately, the icons can be replaced by text. The function of the button is immediately clear.
Set Text Labels
Set the button labels with text like this:
- surf to www.gmail.com and log in.
- Click the gear icon at the top right.
- click on View all settings.
- Click on the tab General.
- Select the option behind ‘Button labels’ Text.
- Click at the bottom Saving Changes.
You are returned to the inbox. The buttons above an opened email have been modified.
